Meet the Facilitator
Hi, I’m Dr. Alexis Hernandez-Hons, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Mental Health Coach. I specialize in helping people create a more peaceful, balanced relationship with food through Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training, or MB-EAT.
In my practice, MB-EAT is at the heart of what I offer. Through individual and group sessions, I can help you tune in to your hunger and fullness cues, understand emotional eating patterns, reduce food-related stress, and build a more compassionate relationship with your body.
My background in behavioral health, mindfulness, and clinical training supports the guidance I provide on your journey toward greater self-awareness and well-being. I believe lasting change comes from within, and I am here to help you uncover it.

About MB-EAT:
Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training, or MB-EAT, helps you step away from dieting and toward a more compassionate, attuned way of eating. This evidence-based program blends mindfulness meditation with cognitive behavioral techniques to support a peaceful, sustainable relationship with food.
Through MB-EAT, you will learn to listen to your body’s hunger and fullness signals, notice emotional triggers without judgment, respond to cravings with awareness rather than habit, let go of guilt and self-criticism, and foster appreciation for your body as it is.
Rather than fighting food or emotions, MB-EAT encourages you to meet them with curiosity and care. Research shows that it can help reduce disordered eating, improve body image, and support overall well-being.

MB-EAT Groups:
Our online MB-EAT groups offer a warm, supportive space where you can explore mindful eating alongside others who are on a similar path.
The groups follow an evidence-based curriculum that integrates mindfulness meditation with cognitive behavioral practices. You will be part of a supportive community where you can share experiences and encouragement in a judgment-free setting. Each session focuses on building practical skills to help you identify hunger and fullness, manage emotional eating, and reduce food-related anxiety.
Individual MB-EAT Sessions:
If you are looking for more personalized support, individual sessions offer a focused, one-on-one approach to mindful eating.
These sessions are tailored to your personal history, needs, and goals. Together, we will explore the roots of your eating challenges in a safe and supportive environment. Scheduling is flexible to fit your needs, and regular sessions provide ongoing guidance and compassionate accountability.
Sessions are conducted privately through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.
